The Lake District in Autumn - A unique photography break

Introduction

If you're interested in landscape photography and want an unforgettable break then this could be perfect for you. Based at the elegant country house retreat, Rothay Manor, you'll have world class scenery on your doorstep. Within easy reach are mountain vistas, enchanting woodlands and endless lakeside views. Visiting in late autumn provides a great opportunity to see this landscape at its finest.

As well as visiting some classic photography locations, your guides will seek out some hidden gems the lake district has to offer, so you'll head home with original and inspirational images.

With onsite conference facilities, there will be the opportunity to share and discuss your images with others and to see how editing software can be used to maximise impact.

Aims
To guide you around the stunning Lake District National Park, providing you with lots of opportunities to capture great images. If you're still developing as a photographer, we'll be on hand to help you learn new skills and techniques along the way. The break is delivered by lake district residents and photographers, Rod Ireland and Mike Prince.

About Rothay Manor
Rothay Manor is an elegant country house retreat set in the bustling market town of Ambleside, and just a short stroll to Lake Windermere.
The hotel has 19 bedrooms, ranging from spacious "classic" rooms, to larger two-bedroom suites. All bedrooms feature seating areas and en-suites (most with baths and shower-over). In the room you will find SKY TV, large fluffy dressing gowns and Molton Brown toiletries.

A holiday isn't a holiday without great food and at Rothay Manor you will be treated to sumptuous breakfasts and indulgent evening meals in our two AA rosette fine dining restaurant.

Is this for me?
The majority of our time will be spent outdoors, with the emphasis on getting you to the right places at the right time to capture some great images. For those of you who also want to develop your skills and knowledge, Rod and Mike will be on hand to help you.

If the group choose to go to some of the more out of the way spots, a little more walking and a basic level of fitness is required. To get the most from the course, a basic understanding of the operation of your digital SLR is useful.

What will I learn about?

Shooting alongside Rod and Mike, you'll benefit from the extensive knowledge they have of the area, developed both through photography and walking the hills and mountains (they're also both qualified mountain leaders). For those wishing to develop skills and knowledge, your guides will be on hand to help.

What happens during a 'typical' day?
The main aim for each day is to get you to great locations we’ve carefully scouted out, at the right time to make the most of the light that’s available. As a landscape photography break we can head out at both dawn and dusk to give us the best chance of getting some great images.

Back at Rothay Manor we'll have a relaxed look at the day’s images from each participant and give you the chance to see how post processing can be used to enhance what you've produced. You'll then be treated to some fantastic dining at the two AA rosette restaurant.
