Mountain Photography Days

The Lake District is perfect for Photography Courses, Workshops and Tours. With these days, you'll head into the mountains, beyond the well known easy to reach ‘honey pots’. They're aimed at people wanting to move beyond roadside locations and explore the hidden wealth of unique photographic opportunities the Lake District offers.

Led by a fully qualified Mountain Leader you'll be in good hands. Along with the Mountain Leader qualification, we hold appropriate insurance and outdoor first aid certificates. This means you'll be able to visit locations ‘out of bounds’ to many other photography providers.

Course Aims

To guide photographers to some of the less well known photography locations in the Lake District area. Unlike tuition workshops where the main emphasis is on skill and knowledge development, these days are about maximising your photographic opportunities and getting you to the right places at the right time. That said, Rod will always be on hand to provide tips and tuition to those requiring it along the way.

What will I learn about?

Shooting alongside Rod, a Lake District resident, you'll benefit from his extensive knowledge of the area, developed both through photography as well as his Mountain Leadership background. As someone who completed the 'Wainwrights' (list of the main lake district fells) over a decade ago, Rod has literally trod through and over the entire area, often finding photographic gems hidden away.

Is this course for me?

You've got a handle on the basics of using your DSLR and are looking to get under the skin of the Lake District. You've created images at the 'usual' locations and are looking to head into the fellside for a unique perspective.

How long does it last?

Each day lasts around 7 hours. We’re happy to incorporate early or late starts in order to give you the chance to capture sunrise & sunsets and make the most of the “golden hour” light.

Equipment for you to bring along?

• Digital SLR / Bridge Camera
• Any lenses you have
• Tripod
• Filters
• Packed lunch (weather dependant we may head to a pub/cafe for lunch)
• Clothing suitable for locations visited (full details on booking)

Group size and instructors

To ensure you get the most out of the experience and the attention you deserve, we limit this course to four photography participants. Running these courses is only possible by having coaches with combined skill sets in landscape photography and mountain leadership. These courses will always be led by someone with a mountain leadership qualification, in addition to a strong passion and ability around landscape photography.
